PJ Boylan

(These are places and times where you can see some of PJ's photos in person and sometimes PJ too.)

August 1-31, 2018: Alexian Village Art Gallery, 9301 N 76th St, Milwaukee, WI 53223. PJ will have a solo exhibit showing more than 40 fine art and travel photographs. Alexian Village is located at 9301 N 76th St, Milwaukee, WI 53223. Follow signs to the main entrance. Admission and parking is free. As this will be PJ's last big solo exhibit at Alexian Village, all work shown will be drastically reduced in price. Inquire at the information desk about purchasing--ask for Katy Griffin, art gallery director.

August 31-October 6, 2018: Walkers Point Center for the Arts, 839 S. 5th St., Milwaukee. Opening reception of Member Exhibit on Friday, Aug. 31, 5-9pm. Over 200 pieces in a wide range of media are presented salon-style throughout the gallery, creating an exuberant display of color, texture, form and flow. The style of the artwork varies as much as the medium. The free opening reception in itself is a creative salon. Art lovers and exhibiting artists, budding and esteemed, gather to converse, connect and share creative ideas and techniques. PJ is showing an architectural photo from a recent trip to India, "Kerala Image", that is "almost abstract" and is featured on the marketing postcard for the exhibition.

September 11-October 9, 2018: "Wisconsin Waterways: A Celebration", a juried exhibition co-sponsored by Coalition of Photographic Arts and Wisconsin Historical Marine Society. Twenty-one images will be displayed at Milwaukee's Central Library, including PJ's "Dawn on Beaver Dam Lake." Opening night with light refreshments will be Sept. 11th, 5:30-7:30pm at the library on 8th and Wisconsin downtown. The exhibition can be viewed during the library's open hours through October 9th: Mon. noon-8pm; Tues. 9am-8pm; Wed.-Fri. 9am-6pm; Sat. 9am-5pm; Sun. (Sept. & Oct.) 1-5pm.

This site is for purchasing unsigned, unlimited editions BUT I invite you to contact me directly via email or phone to purchase signed, limited editions available in various sizes and surface treatments. I use the best quality materials for long lasting images. If you are looking for an image of a specific subject or place, please ask. My inventory of images is much larger than those shown on the web site.

I especially enjoy providing custom orders for homes and businesses and invite direct contact from clients and art consultants. I also enjoy displaying my photos at galleries and special exhibits. Send an email to me at mail@pjboylanphotography.com or phone 414-530-0326 and be sure to leave a message.

I love observing God's creation and how people have modified it, instilling in me a passion for travel. Not only do I want to experience life around the world, but to share my vision through photography. I love color since the world is in color, so most of my work is in color.

My photography is not easily described as to theme or style. I love variety and spontaneity in my life which shows in my subject matter. Rarely do I plan to photograph any specific subject. As I wander I am always observing. Using 35 mm cameras and primarily natural light, my "eye" may be attracted to how light is affecting a subject, or to a repetitive pattern or texture. I am captivated by scenes that show contrasts or inconsistencies, and scenes that are simply beautiful. Architecture, decorative detail, and their care capture my attention also.

Although I have had a passion for photography most of my life, I first started marketing my art professionally after retiring from a career in law. Within a year of retirement I was exhibiting (juried and nonjuried exhibitions) and winning awards in state and local camera clubs competitions. I have earned more than 75 medals, plaques, ribbons, awards and inclusion in many juried exhibitions (e.g., Midwest Photo Exhibition, CoPA Juried) and art fairs (e.g., Art Fair on the Square in Madison, Boca Raton Museum of Art Fine Art Fair). In addition, I am honored to have been chosen to judge photo and art competitions and exhibitions.

I completed a two-year course from the New York Institute of Photography earning a Certificate in Professional Photography and the Canon Masters Course and continue to learn through membership in photography organizations.

I enjoy working with clients, using the best quality materials, to provide limited edition art appropriate for health care facilities and corporate offices as well as residences. I also accept location assignments and grant licenses for use in publications.
